Zhaoxun Yun is a film and television producer and filmmaker with more than two decades of experience in Chinese film and television.

Biography

Zhaoxun Yun was born in Baoji, China, on March 12, 1980. He first drew industry attention in 2001, when his script Paper Plane won the Shanghai Script Award, leading to invitations from both the Beijing Film Academy and the Central Academy of Drama.

After graduating from the Beijing Film Academy in 2006, Yun worked with filmmakers including Liu Miaomiao, Bai Hong, and Wei Ren. These early years helped shape his understanding of filmmaking, production, and long-form screen storytelling.

Over the course of his career in China, Yun worked across feature films and television dramas in roles including producer, line producer, production manager, assistant director, and production coordinator. His professional identity was centered on film and television production.

In 2011, he served as Production Coordinator on National Heroes, which later won the Outstanding Television Series award at the 29th Flying Apsaras Awards in 2013. He later joined Ciwen Media, one of China’s major publicly traded film and television companies, where he continued to build his producing career.

In 2013, Yun served as Line Producer on Ju Chang. The drama was nominated for Best Television Series at the 22nd Shanghai Television Festival and later won the Golden Panda Award at the 14th Sichuan Television Festival, as well as the Outstanding Television Series award at the 11th National Television Production Industry Awards in 2017.

In 2016, he founded his own film production company. The first feature film project produced under that company was Putong Putong Hua Shao Nian, which topped Tencent Video’s film chart for four consecutive weeks.

Drug War 1999 was a film screenplay that received the screenplay prize at the 28th China Golden Eagle Award. The King of Disaster was a feature film project produced by Yun and identified as one of iQIYI’s key projects of the year. After a prolonged delay, it was eventually released in 2025.
